How to be a good senior class

By: Zach Stalcup and Charley Kassabian
Dear Class of 2013,

We, as this year’s graduating class, know from first hand experience the necessities for being a good group of seniors.

One of the most important things for a graduating class to do, aside from actually graduating, is to be memorable. Whether it’s through incredible school spirit, a lively class president, or just being a class full of unforgettable students, it is your duty to go down in California High School History.

Being spirited is one of the most important things that a senior class can be. Being at the top of the pyramid, you need to be the pinnacle of grizzly pride. Dressing in orange and black, celebrating the spirit days, and cheering on your sports teams will lead the way for the following years. A good senior class needs to set a lively example for the following years.

Having a lively class president is also an imperative quality for a good graduating class. It’s this person’s responsibility to plan the major events for senior year, such as Ball, Senior Picnic, and other big days in the lives of the upperclassmen. The senior class is at the top of the totem pole, and the class president is the figurehead of said class. It is crucial to have a lively, energetic, charismatic president to lead the class to the high school Senior Hall of Fame.

In addition to a timeless president, the students themselves need to be larger than life. The individuals that your class consists of need to have a personality that is unmatched by any of the grades below. Whether it’s the water polo boys who wear their robes and short shorts to school, or the golf teams weird pants, the seniors need to turn heads in the hall. They need to be the kings of the hill.

This brings us to another of your responsibilities for next year. It is up to you to perform an incredible senior prank.

Senior pranks are a chance for the graduating class to leave their mark on the school. While almost every class attempts to execute an unforgettable prank, few succeed in truly going down in history. Some of the more memorable pranks include driving a faculty member’s car into the pool, putting furniture on top of the buildings, and initiating a massive lightsaber fight in the commons.

To be a great senior class is to be a role model, a celebrity. To be a great senior class is to be the face of character. If you have what it takes, you will be remembered forever.

Best of luck,

The Class of 2012.
