Digital Paw Print: Sony, Lenovo, LG, others announce new products at 2015 CES

CES, otherwise known as the Consumer Electronics Show, is one of the largest conventions for technology in the United States.

More than 150,000 attendees and 3,600 exhibitors come together to create an unforgettable and truly extraordinary event.

Almost all of the major brands in consumer electronics make the journey to Las Vegas, including Samsung, Sony, LG, Lenovo, Dell, Intel, and many more.

And with all the innovations, gadgets, and gizmos these brands have in store, CES 2015 sets the standard for all consumer electronics shows and events. Period.

Sony

First up: Sony. Sony has a lot of ground to make up after the enormous security breach in its filmmaking division, Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The breach leaked movies such as “Annie” and “Fury,” and delayed the release of “The Interview,” the highly publicized comedy about two journalists who are recruited by the CIA to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Despite the attack, Sony had plenty of exciting technology to unveil at CES.

One of Sony’s biggest achievements was its new XBR X900C 4K television (4K, also known as Ultra HD, is four times the resolution of standard HD), which measures at just 4.9mm thick.

The new television also implements the new 4K Processor X1, which intends to improve color accuracy and contrast. The new TV be powered by Android TV OS.

Sony also announced a 4K camcorder, a 4K action camera, a Blu-Ray player that can stream PlayStation games via PlayStation Now, new sports headphones, and a high-end portable music player.

Lenovo

Lenovo, a leader in personal computing, showed off some exciting new laptops for 2015.

One of the most impressive in Lenovo’s new lineup is the Lenovo La Vie Z.

The La Vie Z achieves the title of the lightest laptop, weighing in at just 1.7 pounds for the clamshell and 2.05 pounds for the hybrid.

Lenovo also announced the Flex 3, which has a hinge that can fold back up to 360 degrees.

Lenovo also expanded its Thinkpad Yoga lineup, with new 14 and 15 inch versions.

Finally, Lenovo introduced the Yoga Tab 2 with AnyPen, in which you can use any metal object as a stylus.

Anything from an ordinary pen to a pocket knife can be used to operate the tablet.

LG

LG has innovations galore at CES 2015, starting off with the LG G Flex 2.

The G Flex 2 is a curved Android smartphone with a unique feature: it can self-heal scratches and scuffs in about 10 seconds.

The phone can also flex straight when pushed downward on a flat surface with the display facing down.

LG also introduced a new 4K smart TV, which incorporates webOS 2.0. WebOS was an operating system that HP had developed for smartphones, but it ultimately became a flop.

LG purchased the operating system from HP in February of 2013, and has been hard at work making it smoother and faster.

LG also unveiled 4K computer monitors, both flat and curved 4K OLED televisions, and the LG Twin Wash, a washing machine that can do two loads of laundry at once.
