‘Bridalplasty’ reflects bad bridal habits

Watching “Bridalplasty” is like driving down the freeway and seeing an accident on the side of the road.  It’s gruesome, and you feel really bad for the people involved, but you can’t help but slow down and watch.

E!’s new reality show, “Bridalplasty,” follows 12 brides as they embark on a journey to win an extravagant wedding and all the plastic surgery an insecure Bridezilla would yearn for.

In the season opener, host Shanna Moaker, a former Miss U.S.A., and ex-wife of Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, starts the season off with a party.

But not just any party, an injections party, with enough Botox and lip injections to make Heidi Montag happy.

As the season progressed, there were two boob jobs, two nose jobs, and a lot of liposuction.

The sad part about all these surgeries are that these girls are  beautiful, and it really makes one wonder why they feel so insecure about themselves.

“I’m here to become the perfect bride for him,” said contestant Melissa, referring to her future husband. “He deserves this and more.”

Are these contestants’ future husbands making them feel insecure?

These are the questions I ask myself when I turn on the TV and see these girls fighting like their lives depend on getting that next surgery.

Plastic surgery becomes their new addiction, they are willing to do anything to win, even if that means sacrificing their integrity to get there.

After completing a challenge, winners get to put something new in their “bridal locker,” such as new wedding bands or designer flowers.

But for the women who are among the two lowest scoring brides in the competition, they become a bottom bride.  This means they are in danger of going home and now have to finagle all of the other brides into reserving for their wedding so they can stay on the show.

The winner of the whole competition will get everything in her bridal locker and all the plastic surgery on her wish list, effectively turning her into one of those plastic figurines that sits atop of the wedding cakes.

There have been some crazy reality shows out there, but this one definitely takes the cake.
