“Dune” protagonists Paul and Chani reunite for this next installment of the film.

“Dune: Part Two” is almost out in theaters.
Finally.
Following the success of its predecessor, “Dune”, which was released in 2021, “Dune: Part Two” was delayed almost two years but it will finally hit theaters on March 1.
Originally slated for a Nov. 3, 2022 release date, the film was pushed back and then postponed even more in 2023 because of the writers and actors strike in Hollywood.
This created massive delays to a lot of releases because actors were not helping promote films or TV shows during the strike.
After such a long wait, it seems this is a make-or-break film in the Dune franchise
Not only does the movie have to make up for more than two years of waiting, it needs to be a thoughtful adaptation or else it will bomb at the box office.
Fans seem optimistic about the second installment in the series, but this film needs to be great due to the circumstances behind this film.
The Dune film franchise took the world by storm with its out-of-this-world action, romance and particle effect. Frank Herbert’s epic 1965 science fiction classic tells the story of a young nobleman, Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) who rises to lead a desert army in battle over a special spice called Melange.
The second installment, “Dune: Part Two” continues where the first installment left off, in a thrilling cliff hanger.
The protagonist, Paul, unites with his love interest Chani (Zendaya) to take revenge on the Harkonnens, who destroyed his family.
While trying to choose between the love of his life and the entire fate of the universe, he must prevent a fate only he can foresee.
The events of the first film left viewers with Leto’s death after attempting to kill Barron, the main antagonist. This leaves our two main characters in quite a predicament.
Hardcore fans will expect to see Paul’s action-packed rise to power amongst the freemen and prepare for a third installment in the future.
The third installment is the critical last movie in the Dune saga and the most important. But the second movie is what ties the story together.
With that being said, the expectations are even higher for “Dune: Part Two” to deliver at a phenomenal level, especially after the first movie won six Oscars in 2021.
Such expectations for this franchise happened once before with critically acclaimed director David Lynch.
His Dune was more of a space opera and flat-out weird than the current adaptation. It is safe to say Lynch’s “Dune” bombed at the box office, making only $30 million compared to the film’s $42 million budget.
But the 2021 adaptation by director Denis Villeneuve made a whopping $402 million on a $165 million budget.
It’s safe to say “Dune: Part Two” definitely has the hype surrounding around it, and being in such a predicament the movie is pressured to do well.
Fans will see in a few weeks if the film really lives up to the hype.
