Warriors look to repeat

The 2014-2015 NBA season ended on an extremely exciting note with the Golden State Warriors winning the title for the first time in 40 years.

But the burning question of passionate Warrior fans is this: Will the Warriors be able to pull it off for a second consecutive title, or will they be dethroned by a dominant team like the Spurs or Cavaliers?

The most talked about player in the NBA is of course defending MVP Stephen Curry, who is averaging  32.0 points per game through 20 games this season as the Warriors are off to a historic 20-0 start.

The Warriors will face some familiar foes atop the Western conference this year if they hope to repeat. Competing with the Warriors for the Western title should be the  Spurs and Thunder, who are currently ranked in the top three. in the West.

Over the years, the Spurs have been a consistent team with well-known players such as Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, who has been a long term member of San Antonio since 2001. OKC has a solid roster complete with, which many say to be lead by Kevin Durant, (28.4 points per game) and  Russell Westbrook (9.8 assists and  2.4 steals per game).

In the Eastern Conference, it is more than possible for the Cleveland Cavaliers to make it to the conference finals once again, but to make it to the NBA Finals is another story in and of itself.

To say they’ll have a rematch with the Warriors, which is what some fans predict, is really bold. This is not impossible, but consecutive final matchups are rare as the Spurs and the Heat had the most recent consecutive matchup in 2014.

The Eastern Conference will be guaranteed to have lots of action this season. The Heat still have solid members like Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, but the Cavaliers have debatably the best player in the league in LeBron James, who got the 9,000th field goal in his career on Nov. 6.

On the other hand, Chicago usually has a strong team, but the Bulls are faced with the difficult changes of having a new head coach.  Indiana is also ranked in the top three for the Eastern conference.

Only a little over a month into the season, there is plenty of time for injuries, trades, and for teams to move up and down in rank.

But it’s clear that with the continuous momentum of the Cavaliers and the Warriors, that they will soar to the playoffs and possibly the Finals for a rematch.
