How much do you love Mickey?

New website is changing online dating game for avid Disney fans

We’re all looking for our perfect match, for the one to complete us. But it’s simply impossible to meet every single person in search for a soul mate.

That’s why lonely souls seeking one another have been blessed with online dating sites catered to specific preferences. Today, there are websites such as WomenBehindBars.com for those looking for a lovely partner in prison, StachePassions.com for ladies who love men with a little extra facial hair, and SisterWives.us for those seeking to add a little spice to their polygamous marriage.

But with all these dating sites, one group was left alone in the cold: Disney fans. Disney lovers could only dream of finding their happily ever after with someone just as obsessed with Disney as they are.

But on Dec. 1, the dreams of Disney romantics came true with the creation of MouseMingle.com, a dating site for Disney lovers over 18.

Mouse Mingle was created by Disney fan Dave Tavres, who claims no affiliation with the official Walt Disney Company. Tavres created the site after realizing there were no online dating sites where he could find women as interested in Disney as he was.

“[My friends] asked about my dating status and why I wasn’t trying online dating sites,” Tavres said in an interview. “I told them I had tried them, but there was no way to narrow down the searches to find women in the right distance and age range who loved Disney.”

Thus MouseMingle.com was born.

Quite possibly the biggest game changer for Mouse Mingle is their Park Pal option. Not only can users seek friendships, relationships, or marriage through the site, they can also search for strangers who are willing to join them on an adventure at Disney parks worldwide.

“It’s actually pretty neat that you can go with [a Park Pal] and go on all your favorite rides together,” said Cal High math teacher Rosemary Vargas, an avid Disney fan.

After the initial registration,   Mouse Mingle users can update their profile to include more specific details. Users can describe their overall appearance and daily life. But what really sets Mouse Mingle apart is its extensive look into its users’ Disney lives.

Mouse Mingle asks its users who their favorite Disney characters are with choices ranging from Cinderella and Tarzan to Winnie the Pooh and Jack Skellington. Mouse Mingle also asks users to rate their Disney nerd level from “Still have a lot to learn” to “I’m THE Disney person at work.”

Users can also choose their favorite Disney songs and, of course, their favorite Disney movies. But rest assured, it’s not all about pretty princesses and happily-ever-after fairytales. Mouse Mingle also makes sure to ask a couple extra questions about the Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar franchises.

As if all this doesn’t already make people question whether they really like Disney that much, Mouse Mingle ventures on to ask all about its users’ Disney park life. The website asks which park is closest to users’ homes and includes options from all over the world.

Mouse Mingle is also thorough in asking whether people have an annual pass, and if so, what kind of pass it is – there are at least 15 in the drop-down tab.

At the end of the profile registration, users can also include extra information about their Disney lives such as “What’s your best Disney memory?” and “Favorite time of day to be in a park, and why?” because if both users don’t like being in the park at 3 p.m., then it’s not going to work out.

Once users complete their profile, they are now free to roam the site in search of their Prince or Princess Charming. Creating a profile and viewing the profiles of other Mouse Mingle users is completely free, but to contact someone within the site requires a monthly fee of $12.55, the 55 cents being a tip-off to the year 1955 when the original Disneyland opened.

As MouseMingle.com says, ‘There are fans everywhere who want to find someone to share their Disney passions with, so create your profile and check your matches to find someone who loves Disney as much as you!”

“It’s kind of bizarre,” said senior Anna Hwang about Mouse Mingle. “But I like Six Flags more than Disney.”
