Starry lights, sights around Bay

by Paris Colunga, staff writer

This is the time of year when everyone is cheerful, kids are on their best behavior, and decorations are caking homes.

Houses might play music, put on a lighting show, and even invite people from neighborhoods to enjoy all the decorations that are displayed inside and out.

Some of the hottest spots are right in the East Bay according to lightsofthevalley.com, a site that documents vivid displays of holiday homes.

At 2612 Calle Reynoso in Pleasanton, there stands a gorgeously spirited home. Its decorations get bigger and brighter every year. Flashing lights synchronized to music set the holiday mood. But not only is it decorated on the outside, tourists are also able to tour the garage and view more extravagant decorations.

Some of these include Christmas trains, toy Santas, fake snow, and beautiful Christmas trees.

This place is so well known for its decorations that neighbors know it as Bob’s World during the holidays.

Many people look forward to visiting the houses with the most glittery lights. It’s a tradition that contributes to making the holidays the brightest time of the year. Another extraordinary house is Deacon Dave’s, also known as “Casa Del Pomba” or House of the Dove”  at 352 Hillcrest Avenue in Livermore.

He holds tours for families and friends to visit. Bright dangling lights are strung across every inch of the house including near by trees and bushes. His crew is very creative and they make sure to leave nothing uncovered.

It can be seen from streets away, as it draws the viewer in.

There’s extreme detail and dedication put into the house. Their work includes notable figures such as a life -sized Santa and nine reindeer including the most famous one of all, Rudolph.

On the side of the house, hangs a huge wreath with lights wrapped around and a dove hanging in the middle.

This house is one of the largest display of lights in the Bay Area with more than 325,350 lights.
