Students bundle up in the latest fall fashions

Colorful leaves and pumpkin spice lattes are sure signs that fall is finally here and for many people this means a drastic change in wardrobe.

As mornings get chillier and the days cool down, many of us are forced to put away the sandals and shorts and pull on sweaters and scarves.

While this may be true, it doesn’t mean students have to compromise fashion for comfort.

“[Fall fashion is] stylish, comfy, and warm,” said senior Maribelle Magtibay.

Not only is it those things, but it’s also really versatile because some summer clothes can still be used in the fall when paired with warmer clothes.

For example, wearing a crop top and high waisted shorts with an oversized knit cardigan is not uncommon this time of the year.

“Fall fashion is getting to wear a combination of warm and cold weather clothes because it’s not too cold and not too hot,” said freshman Grace Yu.

Even though the weather isn’t foggy-breath freezing yet, it’s still significantly colder than it is in the summer.

The last thing anyone wants to do at 7:30 a.m. is roll out of the comfort and warmth of their bed. Unfortunately, there really is no choice.

Since students can’t walk around school smothered in a Snuggie every single day, many rely on the next best thing: layers upon layers of clothing.

“[Fall fashion] is comfy and warm, like a blanket wrapped around you,” said junior Justin Lee.

When it comes to fall, it seems that cozy clothing is at the top of most students’ priorities.

“I like to wear comfortable clothes because it’s cold and miserable in the fall,” said junior Arianna DeLillo.

Some popular cold-weather favorites are boots, cardigans, leggings, sweaters, and everyone’s lazy day go-to, sweatpants.

Warm summer temperatures provide great opportunities to try new trends, but once the weather cools down, it seems as though the motivation to step outside of our fashion comfort zone simmers down as well.

So this season, it’s all about going back to the basics since fall attire has remained fairly constant throughout time.

From its rich, dark color scheme to its cute, comfortable look, students  can count on seeing this classic style around for years to come.

“I’m very traditional, so I’ll definitely stick to dresses with leggings and boots,” said Spanish teacher Angela Kouris.

Fall fashion is almost the same every single year, so why do people still get excited about it?

For a lot of teens, fall is a time when they can stop worrying so much about body image and just enjoy being comfortable.

“[There’s] no need to shave when you can layer all the time!” said junior Emily Nguyen.

Students laugh about it, but in reality, it couldn’t be more true.

Despite attempts to pull off these summer trends, it really does take a lot of effort to look good in clothes that reveal so much skin.

But when fall comes around, suddenly the clothes loosen up, the layers bundle on, and a significantly less amount of skin is showing.

“I love sweaters and sweatpants because they’re very loose and comfy,” said sophomore Cecelia Freeman.

Students no longer have to worry about squeezing into a tiny pair of shorts, just pull on some leggings and an oversized sweater and it becomes an instant outfit.

The bottom line is during the fall, students are presented with the rare opportunity of being able to wear something that is both cute and comfortable.

That’s what people love about fall clothing. It has the rare combination of comfort, style, and effortlessness. These qualities are difficult to find in trends nowadays.

It is seemingly timeless, and maintains its classic look that continues to be relevant in this modern day and age.
