The comic “Moonlight” is a new show on Disney+.

New year, new batch of movies and shows to entertain the masses. And there are many interesting titles coming out.

One movie that just came out that I personally am looking forward to is “Jackass Forever.” The trailer is hilarious and though I’ve never seen any of the previous Jackass movies I can tell it’s going to be a good one.

A ragtag gang of jackasses doing dangerous stunts for the entertainment of the masses; who wouldn’t want to watch that?

Here are some other films and TV series that could spark your interest this year.

“Death on the Nile” (Feb 11) is a murder mystery film set in Egypt and looks good. Of course like any who done it, the film will have a large cast of characters with their own grudges against the murder victim. I’m sure any fan of the murder mystery genre will enjoy this film. No doubt it will have a contrived twist ending.

“Cuphead” (Feb. 18 on Netflix) is a cartoon featuring a cup and a mug avoiding the devil, who is trying to steal their souls. The show is based on a video game of the same name.

The genre of this game is called bullet hell, which is a bunch of things coming at the screen that viewers need to dodge quickly. The game has the aesthetic of an old Disney or Betty Boop cartoon.

From the trailer, the art for the show looks great and multiple bosses from the game will appear, which is a nice touch. Countless depictions of video games in shows contain none of the characters in the original source material.

“The Batman” (March 4) will have a new caped crusader with Robert Pattinson in the lead role. I have high hopes for this film as the primary villain appears to be the Riddler, who was last played by Jim Carrey in the campy 1990s film “Batman Forever”. In ”The Batman”, Paul Dano plays Riddler and will hopefully do the character justice. People are looking at this film as a fresh start for one of DC’s most well known characters. Many, like myself, hope the film does justice to the characters we’ve all watched for years.

“Moon Knight” (March 30th,  Disney+) is a show centering around Marvel’s Egyptian Batman.

For years fans have made the comparison between Batman and Moon Knight. Like Batman, Moon Knight has his own dark and traumatizing past which I assume Disney+ will tone down. From what I can tell, the public is very excited for the show.

“Halloween Ends” (Oct. 14)  continues the saga of Michael Myers, and is supposedly the “final installment” in the series.

It has been teased in two movies that murderer Michael Myers is finally defeated, but he´s back for another subpar movie.

The slasher genre has been beating dead horses that have long ago been fossilized. How are they still getting away with this? The court of public opinion seems to agree that the series should just be laid to rest.

“Black Panther Wakanda Forever” (Nov 11) is the first Black Panther movie was a massive hit and praised for having a mostly African cast. With the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman, it appears the film will not feature Black Panther himself.

Fans have speculated that Black Panther’s sister will take up the mantle. Many will remember Boseman throughout the viewing and who knows how the writers will dance around the character´s disappearance.

“The Mario Movie” (Dec 21) became a meme instantly. It’s odd casting choices of Chris Pratt as Mario and Keegan Michael Key as Toad shocked people.

Mario has only graced the screen once before with “Super Mario Bros’’, a film that was a laughing stock. Many people expect this new movie to be a joke as well. I for one am excited for the film, I love some goofy acting.

“House of the Dragon”  (HBO Max) also is expected to be released this year. The show acts as a prequel to “Game of Thrones”. This prequel takes place many years before the events of “got”, meaning the ancient house Targaryen is in charge of the Seven Kingdoms.

I was a big fan of “Game of Thrones” and actually read the book this prequel is based upon. The show will supposedly start in a Targaryen civil war called the dance of the dragons. The dance of the dragons, though pretty detailed, cannot last more than three seasons at best.

There will probably be multiple rulers who rise and fall similar to “got”.
