It’s that time of the year when we curl up on the couch with tons of blankets and watch holiday movies and TV shows.

Here are the must-watches for this Thanksgiving season.

“Gossip Girl”

Every year, when the day of the turkey arrives, the hyper-privileged kids of the Upper East Side of Manhattan also get a large dose of drama mixed with NYC scandal. “Gossip Girl” focuses on the lives Chuck Bass, Blair Waldorf, Nate Archibald, Serena van der Woodsen, and the Brooklyn outsider, Dan Humphrey.

The episode, “The Treasure of Serena Madre,” has a storyline continuing from prior episodes, semi-focused on Serena’s affair with Tripp van der Bilt, Nate’s cousin, and her boss, who ran for Congress.

The episode starts with Tripp explaining to Serena that Tripp’s wife, Maureen, has agreed to sign the divorce papers due to the scandal she created to ensure Tripp would win the congressional election without him knowing.

The episode unfolds the rest of the complications of the divorce when Maureen and Tripp get invited to the Van der Woodsens for a Thanksgiving dinner, with no one knowing of their evolving divorce.

At the Empire, Chuck tells Nate that he received footage from his security team that Tripp and Serena had a moment in the elevator of the hotel. Nate quickly realizes that Tripp did not divorce due to the scandal but because Tripp was in love with Serena, which angers him due to the fact that Nate is in love with her.

Drama unfolds at the dinner as the episode brings out the twists and turns of Thanksgiving that most may never experience.

“Brooklyn-Nine-Nine”

“Brooklyn-Nine-Nine’s” very first Thanksgiving episode is the best for this season.

The episode shows the entire squad heading to Amy’s house for a big feast she hosted to politely suck up to Captain Holt. Meanwhile, Jake and Captain Holt try to track down a thief who stole $10,000 from the evidence locker.

After Holt got a phone call from the precinct about a robbery from the evidence room, Jake went along with him as Holt promised him the next case.

Jake reveals how he hates Thanksgiving because he never had someone to spend it with and would rather spend his time at the precinct working on cases.

Amy and the rest of the squad wait for Jake and Holt to return and stop eating until they do. The team learns about Amy’s terrible cooking skills and finds that all of the food is inedible.

In the end, they all gather in the precinct where Boyle sets up a sweet dinner by ordering takeout to the precinct. Jake arrives at the dinner with a new mindset of Thanksgiving after Holt helped him work through his past problems.

This episode brings back the humor that Brooklyn-Nine-Nine fans love. Jake wins Boyle Bingo by crossing off the last box by making Boyle cry.

“Friends”

Friends, a 2000s sitcom continues to appeal to the younger generation.

The most iconic Thanksgiving episode of the entire series is from Season 8, Episode 9, “The One With The Rumor”.

Monica invites an old friend from high school who apparently despised Rachel, and Joey declares he will finish a 19-pound turkey.

Monica tells everyone that she will not make turkey this year due to the large amounts of leftovers, and Chandler does not like Thanksgiving food. Joey says he will finish the 19-pound turkey as long as he wears Rachel’s maternity pants.

Will Colbert (Brad Pitt) was friends with someone who was equally as overweight as Monica back in school. Rachel does not remember him, but Ross does.

But when Monica tells him that Rachel will be attending dinner, he is upset because she often bullied him in high school due to his looks.

As he arrived at dinner, Will had completely changed; he had lost over 150 pounds and was now shooting a sandwich commercial for Subway.

During dinner discussion, Will is extremely aggressive toward Rachel and refreshes her memory of making his life a living hell. She repeatedly apologizes, but that’s when Will reveals a club he created in high school, “The I Hate Rachel Greene Club” with Monica as co-president.

Monica reminds Rachel of the time she spread a rumor of Ross making out with their 50-year-old librarian.

Ross and Rachel start to fight, but Monica reminds them that they are having a child. Will and Ross together discover that Rachel is having a child, but establish that they will not get married.

The episode ends with Joey conquering the 19-pound turkey, wearing Phoebe’s maternity pants, and he does end up finishing the entire turkey.

“Gilmore Girls”

The most notable Thanksgiving episode after seven years of running is “A Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving” in Season 3.

The episode surrounds Lorelai and Rory’s Thanksgiving dinner marathon, where they eat four meals. The first stop is Mrs.Kim and Lane’s dinner, where a vegetarian dish called tofurkey is the main course.

The second dinner takes place at Sookie and Jackson’s, which depicts a fraternity idea of the best Thanksgiving ever. But Sookie gives up realizing her husband will never be a genius chef like

Henry and resorts to drinking for the rest of that night.

The third dinner is at Luke’s with Lorelai, Rory, Jess. Dinner is especially awkward since Jess and Rory are now dating.

The final dinner is at the grandparents, where Lorelai finds out that Rory did not just apply to Harvard.Lorelai is enraged and leaves, the ending things on a bad note with her mother. As the episode concludes, Rory and Lorelai share a heart-to-heart and understand each other.

These Thanksgiving episodes are sure to provide the feeling everyone craves this holiday.
